The Baja Blog - A blog about life in Baja, with useful information about La Paz and Los Cabos, and great pictures
La Paz is not a big tourist spot like Cobo further down Baja, and we were actually there for SCUBA. Having been to Mexico many times, we have found that asking the local taxi drivers into town has often been a way to find exceptional places. Two different drivers on the same day suggested Las Tres Virgenes, so my wife and I left our daughter at the hotel bar and went. It looks like someone’s house, not a commercial establishment and the roof was missing over the main seating area. Understand, it does not rain in La Paz, perhaps ever. The view upwards as the evening turns to night is lovely and the setting is rustic but delightful. The food was very sophisticated,- sort of high-end French cooking techniques applied to Mexican materials. If you are looking for quick chips and dip with tacos, this is the wrong place. If you want to spend hours being stunned by unusual dish after dish, all excellent, this is the place. We actually went there two evenings in a row and discovered that the much of the clientele were well off Americans that had been living there for years. They live there and they know!
