With its 18th-century Spanish colonial architecture and laid-back local scene, San Jose del Cabo provides a low-key Baja Peninsula counterpart to fun-loving Cabo San Lucas 20 miles south. Scuba dive and kayak in Cabo Pulmo Marine Park, home to the Sea of Cortez's only hard coral reef and the wreck of the fishing boat Colima. Visit the 200 bird species that live in the tranquil San Jose's Estuary and Bird Sanctuary. Sunbathers will fall in love with Playa del Amore, one of Mexico's best beaches.
“A must-play in Cabo”
Club Campestre Golf Course
During my first trip to Cabo I managed three rounds of golf including Palmilla, Cabo del Sol Ocean and finally, Club Campestre. All were terrific with Cabo del Sol having a truly beautiful layout along the ocean but sketchy green conditions. The best find however was clearly Campestre. It's a fantastic course with perfect conditions and little play. I would not miss this course on any golf trip to the area.
Los Amigos Smokeshop and Cigar Bar
Los Amigos Smoke Shop and Cigar Bar is located in the heart of beautiful downtown San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. Not to be confused with it's noisy neighbor, Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo is a quaint little gem on the Baja peninsula. Amigos is a well appointed, classy and comfortable place to enjoy your favorite imported or domestic cigar and a glass of your favorite tequila, single malt scotch or other beverage. Amigos proprietor, Alan Baumann, is an expat from the mid-west with a depth of knowledge and passion for fine cigars without equal in Baja. He enjoys the company of interesting patrons from all walks of life. If the espresso machine is up and running (in Mexico, getting parts can be a problem) Amigos Custom Roasted coffees make an excellent latte, americano, or mocha which complement a late morning "puro" quite well. If you enjoy fine cigars, and appreciate taking time to savor a casual smoke and conversation, Amigos is a must see destination for you while visiting San Jose del Cabo. Enjoy!
